|New build learning centre extension to the existing late Victorian teaching block part of the Moulsham High School in Chelmsford, Essex. A planning requirement was that the design had to respond to the existing campus buildings in a harmonic manner, which led to the adoption and use of pitched and tiled roofs.||The construction and components chosen were based on a structural timber glulam design, which internally was partially exposed for educational purposes and to create welcoming spaces. Part of the project was also the construction of a library extension and refurbishment of the existing library.||Location: Chelmsford, UK
Time frame: 2005 – 2006
Area: approximately 450 sqm new build and 200 sqm refurbishment
This project was designed and delivered in employment at Stanley Bragg Architects Limited, Colchester, UK.
