|The brief for this project was to design a detached three bedroom family home for a private client in a rural village in mid-west Germany. The house is situated on a sloping site and comprises three floors with a separate one bed apartment in the basement and a double garage with workshop below to the side of the house.||Local planning restrictions require the building to fit in with the architectural character of the region and limit the choice of external materials to a small palette consisting of either timber framed walls with black painted framing and white rendered in-fills or plain white rendered elevations. Roofing materials should either be slate or black clay tiles.||In this case white render for the elevations and black roof tiles were chosen, which cover the main double pitched roof intersecting with a subordinate street facing gable. Planning permission was received in August 2013 and construction started immediately.
